How To Improve Eyesight - 3 Simple and Effective Tips

If you have ever had any problem with your eyes in the past or you do now, then you understand how desperate one can be to have a perfect vision! Really, no individual should watch his or her vision deteriorate before taking action on how to improve eyesight. Most times all that is required is a little but consistent and committed effort to treat the eyes properly.

Start with food - good nutrition is essential to the eyes. This tip is usually overlooked, because it sounds so cliché that even my 10-yr old can lecture on it. But seriously, this should be your first line of action if you are encountering problems with your vision. Lots of beta carotene will give you a good start. Beta carotene is the pigment substance found in colourful vegetables, grains and fruits. It's one of vitamin A precursors. It is used to reduce the chance of night blindness. Carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, kale and collard greens are some of the popular foods rich in beta carotene. Eggs are a good source of lutein and sulphur which are great for the eyes. Cold water fish contains a substance called DHA that gives structural support to cell membranes including those of the eyes. It will help maintain good eyesight and prevent eye disease such as macular degeneration

Daily exercises - these are effective to help relax the eyes and keep away eyestrain. Eyestrain in itself is not harmful, however, it may weaken your eyesight if left unattended to. There are different types of exercises you can do. A quick and simple one is blinking. All it requires is for you to take a break from whatever you are doing and engage your eyes in a couple of blinks. This action coats the eyes with tears which refresh the eyes. Not only will your eyes feel better, you will also feel better in your eyes.

Supplements - there are quite a number of supplements in the market that help improve vision. While this is not necessary if you do not have any problem whatsoever with your vision, people with eye issues should have these on their shopping list.

Zinc and iron supplement - ironically while beta carotene is of essence for good vision, it will not do much for the eyes without certain levels of zinc and iron in the body. However you must go easy on zinc if you intend to supplement with it.

Lutein, silymarin, bilberry, vitamin A, vitamin C are very good supplements as well as powerful antioxidant that will help improve eyesight. N-Acetyl Cysteine is another important supplement. It forms the main component in production of a substance called glutathione. Glutathione itself is formed in the liver but very useful for the lens of the eyes.
