The first rule on the list is a big one for people who wear contact lenses: don't wear your contacts for long, extended periods of time! They are not meant to be worn all day long and if debris (like dust) gets caught in the lens, it could damage your eye. Additionally, you should never sleep with your contacts in! Another rule for keeping healthy eyes involves technology: don't spend long periods of time in front of your TV or computer without taking breaks. It causes your eyes to become strained, drained, and tired which will take a toll on your vision and even cause a headache. Every 45-minutes, take a tech-free break - even for just five minutes. If you're at work and you feel your eyes getting tired, go take a walk outside for 10 minutes or step away from your computer and do some stretches. Whatever you do, stay away from electronic devices long enough to rest your eyes.
